Starting Important Conversations

Changing how America thinks about—and funds—science-rich CTE education will take more than inspired students and motivated teachers; it will require honest conversations with policymakers, school boards, families, and entire communities.

The CTE Science Teach-In helps spark those conversations by turning classroom events into visible community moments that highlight CTE as a primary place where young people practice applied science, problem-solving, and innovation.

Through targeted outreach to local media, district and state leaders, and families, each Teach-In becomes a catalyst for rethinking what “real” science education looks like, who it serves, and how it should be supported.

As stories and images of CTE students teaching younger children begin to circulate, they challenge outdated assumptions and open the door to new investments, partnerships, and policies that treat CTE as essential to the nation’s science and workforce future.
